Devlog - 12/11/25
>Hey y'all! Dropping in with an update for December!
>First things first, I've been speaking with our scripter, BlackMage, regarding the journal system. I've sent him the scripts I'd been testing, as well as a brief rundown of how I'd like the system to actually be presented.
>On the topic of scripts, I've also been looking for help on the RPG Maker Forums to help out with an update to the game's hint system! The current system simply describes the room via a message box, and to make it a bit more unique, I've decided to make it more of a visual indication when a button is pressed! Something like the concept image below:

>This indicator can be activated by pressing the hint key, and will draw a line from the player character to points of interest within a room. This will only connect to important points of interest, and will only appear for certain items once the player has knowledge about them. A huge thanks to Dev_With_Coffee on the forums for looking into making this a reality!
>Two things that I have implemented this past month, however, are an update to the game's hiding system, and distraction items.
>The new hiding system will trigger a QTE whenever the player character is hiding during a chase. If the QTE is failed, the current pursuer will find her, and the chase will resume. It's still a little rudimentary, and I'll likely be sprucing it up a bit to make it more than just pressing a button at the right time, but it's at least working, which is good enough for me at this time!
>The new distraction items are still in development, and although they work 95% of the time, there's still that 5% which breaks the game catastrophically. Somehow. As you can imagine, this inconsistency is making it a pain to troubleshoot, and although I haven't run into that game-breaking issue for the last several dozen attempts, I'm still wary about it and will be monitoring it as development goes along. As for what this feature can (is meant to) do, it allows the player to toss an item to any spot within the gameplay area, making a sound and distracting any pursuers that are not currently chasing the player character.
>And that's about it for this devlog! I'll see you all again soon, and I hope you all have a happy holiday!
